Vtg Japanese Haori Himo Kimono Accessory

This is a Japanese vintage braided silk haori himo. One of many different styles of kumihimo cords, this pair of round cords (marugumi) features red and white vertical stripes. These two pieces would be tied in a traditional-style knot for decorative appeal. There are plastic protectors around the tassels.

A haori himo is a decorative cord, chain, or string that holds the kimono's haori (jacket) closed and in position. There is a string cord tie type, a type of glass ball passed through a braided cord, and recently a magnetic type. They attach to the haori via loops at on the jacket's collar using small clasps or hooks.
